Healthy protein, though an acquired taste

Amaranth and quinoa are the only grains that have protein. Unlike quinoa, that I liked immediatly, amaranth took me some time to get used to. It has a more ... specific flavor. Not unpleasant at all, just different from what we are used to. So, if you don't like it on a first try, give it another chance after a while. I give it to my kid as a hot cereal (cooked, of course) with milk and add raising.
Pros:filling, has protein
