Lily of the Valley (Convallaria majalis) – Has been used tradition-
ally as a cardiac tonic to strengthen the heart muscle and blood
vessels. Herbalists have also observed its diuretic action which
may assist with the edema often associated with heart condi-
tions.
Khella Seed (Amni visnaga) – Traditional uses include angina
pectoris, cardiac insuffciency, paroxysmal tachycardia, asthma,
whooping cough, and cramp-like complaints of the abdomen.
Cactus (Cactus grandiforus) – Used in traditional herbal medi-
cine for nervous cardiac disorders, angina pectoris, stenocardia,
hemorrhage, and cardiac complaints.
Arjuna Bark (Terminalia arjuna) – Ayurvedic medicine has used
this botanical to assist in cases of congestive cardiac insuff-
ciency, high blood pressure, anemia, asthma, cardiopathy, as well
as internal and external hemorrhaging.
Linden Flower (Tilia platyphyllos) – Herbalists have used this
herb as a nervine tonic because of its hypotensive properties. It
has been used to support the circulatory system and the heart
due to its reported calming effects. Other apparent actions
include use as a diuretic, astringent, diaphoretic, anti-infamma-
tory, and an antispasmodic.
