A Fix for
February 4, 2013
PLEASE, if you need or prefer liquified meds like I do (actually like my furkids do) then read on! You CAN still give this product successfully -
I have always had a problem "pilling" my furkids and they hate it anyway. So a few years back when I had a beautiful cat, Cali, who needed thyroid medicine every day, I soon realized the compounded, liquified version would be the way to go. Since then I just always insist on compounded or liquid medicines. When this product was recommended for my kitty, Fluffy, who was going through cancer, I happily purchased it. I found out it was not available in liquid so I phoned a local pharmacist. After going through many of his concerns he finally told me, "why don't you just crush it and/or dissolve it in water and give it that way". I realized he was right. So I had an old pill crusher and I did just that. After crushing the pill in the dry container I then used just enough drops of water to nearly cover the crushed contents. After less than a half hour, it is ready to draw up into the syringe and give easily to the furkid! My Fluffy did not mind it at all. He was such a sweet, gentle, patient boy who just let me hold him like a newborn baby and give him this. Unfortunately his cancer got the best of him and I had to let him go. Recently 2 of my older boys (1 of which had an abnormal BUN blood result last year) are in my thoughts of how to help them. I am now going to give both of them the Standard Process Feline Renal Support and the Whole Body Support, as I know the other body systems need help too.
Today I crushed up the whole body support separately for each older boy and am happy to say, it went very VERY well. While they are not the type to let me hold them like newborns, they still let me give this to them without much fuss at all! I am going to order the renal support in the next few days and look forward to giving this to each of them. My two younger cats probably have some time before I have to worry about it, but I may start them on the whole body support sooner than later too, maybe this will help to ward off all of the "old age" ailments that creep up on them.
So moral of the story, any pill can be liquified - just get yourself a pill crusher, add a few drops of water, stir with the syringe and give that way! I hope this helps to ease the minds of other pet parents who don't know what to do. We do not have to shove pills down their throats - we do have another option. And it works!!
Pros:I think that the natural ingredients and many positive results speak for themselves.
