Outstanding Guar Gum
April 14, 2014
Very pleased with this guar gum product and an excellent price. It works great in baking my breads and as an additional fiber source, since I have Crohns. I would give it 5 stars, except that it is just a bit more difficult to mix than some of the other brands. That could be because it seems Finer and some others are a coarser powder. In baking, I prefer the finer powder, but in mixing in water, you have to stir it a little more. No big thing. It has almost No Taste, which is a Big Plus, as some of the Guar Gums have a bit of a blah taste. This is easy to gulp down. No matter what my gluten-free bread recipe calls for-I throw a teaspoon in a WOW, it makes a Great Bread. If you're adding Chia, Sunflower Seeds and Flaxseeds to your breads, it helps hold the bread together better. You get nice slices, when you cut into it.
Just another tip, if you're making gluten free breads, try using Reynolds non-stick Grill Foil. Line the inside of your bread pan with it and lap about an inch over the top. You don't need any oil or flours that way. It makes the perfect bread. When the bread is done, just lift the foil right out of the pan and the bread comes right out. No sticking at all, no matter how sticky the batter was. You can do that with anything, but gluten free batters are especially sticky. I even use the foil again for another loaf, because it comes out perfectly clean.
Pros:Great for baking, Great Price, Hardly No Taste
Cons:A little harder to mix than some
