Support for multiple food intolerances
Gluten, Dairy, Casein, and Phenol Digestion
Food intolerance is the result of impaired digestion due to a lack of digestive enzymes. An enzyme deficiency occurs when the body is unable to produce a sufficient quantity of enzymes to properly break down the foods we eat. Unlike a life-threatening food allergy, intolerance does not involve the production of antibodies, and is not mediated by histamine. Adverse food reactions are widespread. Lactose intolerance affects 30-50 million Americans, and as much as 15% of the world's population suffers when consuming gluten. Other common intolerable foods include dairy protein (casein), phenols, and fibrous gas-forming beans, vegetables and grains. Intolerance Complex contains high activity enzymes specialized in digesting compounds known to cause digestive disturbance.
Food intolerance typically manifests in the digestive tract as occasional diarrhea, cramping, bloating, gas or upset stomach. In contrast to food allergies, the symptoms of food intolerace are often delayed and may not occur until several hours or even days after the intolerable food is ingested.
Identifying the particular foods or food groups that cause sensitivity is a primary goal for addressing adverse food reactions. Elimination diets are a common practice but are not always possible or practical. Restaurant meals frequently contain ingredients containing gluten, lactose, and other common triggers. Reducing or eliminating trigger foods can be helpful, but dietary modification in combination with enzyme supplementation provides peace of mind and complete spectrum digestive support.
As an alternative to elimination, enzyme supplementation may assist and enhance the digestion of foods, therefore allwoing the availability of nutrients to be utilized by the body. Enzymes are capable of breaking down dietary constituents, small enough to minimize encoutners of intolerance.
A full spectrum digestive enzyme formula, such as Intolerance Complex, provides support for both common and less common dietary sensitivities to foods. As lactose and gluten intolerance are the msot widespread concern, Intolerance Complex contains lactase for digesting the dairy sugar lactose, and DPP-IV activity for digesting casein and gluten proteins found in wheat and other grains. Although phenol intolerance is less common, many individuals experience difficulty digesting such compounds. Phenolic compounds exist naturally in fruits and vegetables, however synthetic phenolic compounds are commonly found in fod additives. Intolerance Complex includes xylanase for digesting natural and synthetic phenolic compounds. Also featured is alpha galactosidase for digesting gas-forming complex starches found in beans, grains and fibrous vegetables. Support for protein, fat, and carbohydrate digestion rounds out the formula in order to expand our body's capacity to liberate nutrients from the foods we eat. By doing so, we increase the fuel available for metabolism, repair, and cellular health.
Adenosine triphosphate, ATP is the body's natural source of energy and a primary signaling molecule for healthy cellular processes. ATP is produced by our cells and supplied from foods and supplements we consume. Our muscles rapidly use ATP as cellular fuel for movement, digestion, and metabolism. In order for the body to convert food energy to ATP for the body to utilize, an essential vitamin-like molecule is required. CoQ10 is significantly involved in biochemical functions of the body. Factors including genetics, aging, cancer, and the use of statin type drugs may greatly reduce levels of CoQ10. Supplementation of ATP and CoQ10 may complement the body's natural energy production to provide necessary energy for facilitating various biochemical functions.
