I think it helped me get off Seroquel
December 18, 2012
I had a manic episode in 2009 and had problems sleeping as a result of it. My doctor and I tried every kind of sleep aid that we could and nothing worked until we tried Seroquel (anti-psychotic med). It knocked me out 16 hours the first time I took 100 milligrams of it. For 3 years I used Seroquel, but started reading that there are bad long-term side effects (hair loss being one of them) and so I wanted to get off it. When I stopped taking Seroquel, I stopped sleeping, which royally stunk.
My doctor had me do a neurotransmitter test by Sanesco Labs, and they determined that I was low in GABA, the neurotransmitter responsible for brain calming and relaxation. If you are low in GABA, chances are your brain won't "shut up" and you have things get stuck in your head easy (music, thoughts, errands, worries, goals, etc.) and you almost definitely have trouble sleeping.
I started a regime of lowering my dosage of Seroquel while simultaneously taking Lentra at night (and morming). I eventually got down to 12.5 milligrams of Seroquel to help me sleep (1/4 of a 50 milligram pill, which is almost nothing), but if I didn't take that little bit of Seroquel, I didn't sleep, even with the Lentra. One night I was so sick of having to take the Seroquel that I just stayed up all night and laid on my cubicle floor at work. The next day I was so tired by the end of the work day that I finally slept without Seroquel. Ever since that horrible evening on my cubicle floor at work, I have been sleeping on my own.
I take Lentra at night and morning even though I can still sleep without it now. I do notice that if I stop taking it, my brain becomes a little more annoying due to thoughts that get stuck in there easier (even if they're "good" and productive thoughts).
I would highly recommend Sanesco products and their neurotransmitter test. I even contacted them and they told me their products are designed to be a nutritional, long-term solution.
Pros:Helps my brain stop being annoying
Cons:It is expensive because the bottle does not last long. You have to buy like 3 at a time to have it last a month or so. That is obviously expensive.
