Mag Glycinate, available exclusively from Metagenics, is s fully reacted
amino acid chelate that was produced by a unique, patented process designed to
enhance absorption and intestinal tolerance of magnesium.
Mag Glycinate supports proper ATP production (cellular energy production)
within the body. It also plays a vital role in growth, biosynthesis and
thermogenesis, in addition to intestinal motility and mineralization.
Mag Glycinate was designed to support muscle relaxation and nerve
transmission. It may help prevent leg cramps during sleep. Unlike other
magnesium bis-glycinate formulations, Mag Glycinate is absorbed by a mechanism
similar to that used by amino acids, so it isn’t dependent on stomach acids for
absorption.
Benefits of Magnesium Glycinate
Magnesium glycinate is believed by many to alleviate symptoms of chronic
fatigue syndrome (CFS) or fibromyalgia. Those suffering from CFS or fibromyalgia
usually have some degree of oxygen deprivation within their tissues. This is
often related to an inability to utilize magnesium in the body. If your tissues
become deprived of oxygen, you might feel muscle pain, tenderness or fatigue.
One way to combat this issue is to take a readily absorbable form of magnesium,
such as Mag Glycinate. If you’re supplementing with Mag Glycinate to treat
symptoms of CFS or fibromyalgia, talk to your doctor about the appropriate
dosage for you.
Magnesium glycinate is necessary for regulating neurotransmitter receptors,
so it may also help you balance mood swings. Those who experience severe bouts
of depression are usually deficient in magnesium glycinate, which can lead to
anorexia, confusion, poor memory, trouble learning anxiety irritability,
grieving, delirium or insomnia. The body may experience physical symptoms as
well, such as tingling, muscle contractions, irregular or rapid heartbeat or
numbness. Since magnesium helps stabilize the nervous system and glycine
produces a calming effect on the body, magnesium glycinate is often used as a
tool to address symptoms such as the ones mentioned above.
Glycine also helps to flush out magnesium from the body in a process called
chelation. Excess mercury in the body can also cause mood instability, so this
further helps the supplement in its mood enhancing capabilities.
Magnesium Deficiency
If you are experiencing symptoms of fatigue, weakness, appetite loss or
nausea and vomiting, you may be experiencing the early symptoms of magnesium
deficiency. If these symptoms are followed by abnormal heart rhythms, seizures,
tingling, coronary spasms or personality changes, you may be experiencing the
more extreme signs of a serious magnesium deficiency. If a deficiency is allowed
to get to this point, your calcium and potassium levels may also suffer. If you
are experiencing any of the above mentioned symptoms, it is important that you
talk to your doctor about getting tested for a magnesium deficiency. It is
possible that these symptoms are related to another medical condition, so you
should receive a full evaluation.
If you find that you are suffering from a magnesium deficiency, magnesium
gylcinate is one of the best supplements you can take because it is well
absorbed by the body.

Mag levels finally UP
By kjones from California on April 20, 2011
My Dr. suggested I started taking Mag Glycinate because my levels were so low. It took about 6 months but they started to rise, and about a year later they are up to normal. The only thing I don't like about the tablets is that they are a bit hard to swallow. I take them two at a time, and have to follow with solid food to push them the rest of the way down.
I would recommend this item to a friend.

Great For Low Magnesium Levels
By Ken from Southern Tennessee on January 2, 2011
Most people have low magnesium levels because our diets are lacking today. I had extreme low magnesium because of an illness to the point of going to the E.R. a few times. My doc recommended this and has been a great help. I take 2 twice daily.
