PRODUCT IS A SYNERGISTIC MIXTURE OF:
Thiamin (Vitamin B-1, Thiamin Hydrochloride), Riboflavin (Vitamin B-2), Niacin (Vitamin B-3, Niacinamide), Vitamin B-6 (Pyridoxine Hydrochloride), Folic Acid, Vitamin B-12 (Cyanocobalamin), Biotin, Pantothenic Acid (d-Calcium Pantothenate), Choline Bitartate, PABA (Para- Aminobenzoic Acid), Inositol, Citrus bioflavonoids and Vitamin C (Ascorbic acid)

PRODUCT DISCUSSION
PhysioLogics' Stress B provides a high-potency complex of the B Vitamins, essential water-soluble nutrients required for the synthesis of vital coenzymes needed for intermediary metabolism in virtually every cell of the body.

STRUCTURE AND FUNCTION
Thiamine (B-1) functions as the coenzyme thiamin pyrophosphate, assisting in the metabolism of carbohydrates and branched-chain amino acids, as well as in production of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine.

The coenzyme forms of Riboflavin (B-2) are flavin mononucleotide and flavin adenine dinucleotide. The primary role of Riboflavin is assisting in oxidation/reduction reactions, including those involved in energy production and the metabolism of carbohydrates, fats and proteins. It is also significant in the maintenance of the skin and mucous membranes, the cornea of the eye and for nerve sheaths.

Niacin (B-3), also known as Niacinamide, serves as a coenzyme in oxidation/reduction reactions as nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) and its phosphate form (NADP). NAD functions in intracellular respiration and oxidation of glyceraldehydes, lactate, alcohol, and other fuel molecules. NADP is required in reductive biosyntheses, such as fatty acid and steroid synthesis. Niacin is needed for the metabolism of food, the maintenance of healthy skin, nerves and the gastrointestinal tract, and also functions in DNA replication and repair, and in cell differentiation.

The major coenzyme forms of Vitamin B-6 are Pyridoxine (B-6), pyridoxal 5'-phosphate (PLP) and pyridoxamine (PMP), which function in the catabolism of carbohydrates, proteins and fats. PLP functions as a coenzyme in more than 100 enzymes involved in amino acid metabolism including aminotransferases, decarboxylases, and dehydratases. Vitamin B-6 is also used in the production of red blood cells, and is involved in the single-carbon cycle, which produces methyl groups used in the synthesis of other compounds. By this mechanism, Vitamin B-6 promotes healthy homocysteine levels.

Folic Acid, also known as folacin and pteroylglutamic acid, functions as a coenzyme essential to virtually all biochemical reactions that use single-carbon transfers, including purine and pyrimidine biosynthesis, generation of formate, amino acid interconversions, including homocysteine to methionine. Folic acid with Vitamin B-12 is required for the synthesis of DNA, which is important for all cells in the body. Folic acid, in combination with vitamin B-12 and vitamin C is necessary for the breakdown of proteins and the formation of hemoglobin, a compound in red blood cells that transports oxygen and carbon dioxide. In addition, the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences recommends that women of childbearing age consume 400 mg of Folic Acid daily, in addition to their dietary folate intake. Healthful diets with adequate folate may reduce a woman's risk of having a child with a brain or spinal cord defect.

Vitamin B-12 (Cobalamin) is also a coenzyme in the single-carbon cycle, and with Vitamin B-6 and Folate, converts homocysteine to methionine. Vitamin B-12 is also required for maintenance of our nerve sheaths, normal blood formation, and DNA synthesis and repair.

Pantothenic acid is used for the synthesis of coenzyme A and thus is involved in many metabolic pathways, including energy production, catabolism of carbohydrates, lipids, amino acids, and synthesis of hormones and neurotransmitters. Biotin functions as a coenzyme in carboxylation reactions, which are also useful in many of the body's functions including gluconeogenesis, fatty acid synthesis, propionate catabolism, and leucine catabolism. Inositol is required for proper formation of cell membranes and nerve transmission. Choline, though technically not a vitamin, is an essential nutrient that serves as a precursor for the neurotransmitter acetylcholine, and aids in the metabolism of lipids.

INDICATIONS
Because they are water-soluble, the body requires a daily source of the B Vitamins. Certain regularly prescribed drugs such as Antibiotics may cause B-Vitamin depletions. In addition, 400 mg of Folic Acid daily is recommended for women of childbearing age in addition to their dietary folate intake. Physiologics' B-Complex is a great opportunity to ensure a daily intake of the essential B vitamins to support nervous system, cardiovascular health and energy metabolism.

HOW CLIENTS MAY BENEFIT
* Obtain a convenient source of every essential B vitamin to support numerous metabolic pathways in virtually every cell in the body.

* B Vitamins assist in the production of neurotransmitters and nerve sheaths for a healthy nervous system.

* Supports cardiovascular health by assisting in the metabolism of homocysteine.

* Provides coenzymes necessary for energy production.

* Healthful diets with adequate folate may reduce a woman's risk of having a child with a brain or spinal cord defect.

CLINICAL EVIDENCE
* A study followed 370 elderly people for three years and followed their cognitive function along with serum levels of Vitamin B-12 and Folate. When taken together, a comparable pattern between higher levels of these Vitamins and maintenance of cognitive function were found. (Wang,2001)

* The Physician's Health Study followed almost 15,000 male physicians for up to five years to study heart health. In this study, lower levels of homocysteine were found in those with a healthier cardiovascular system. In addition, researchers found that higher serum levels of Vitamins B-6, B-12, and Folic Acid were correlated with lower plasma homocysteine levels.(Stampfer, 1992)

SUMMARY
The B Vitamins work individually and synergistically in a wide array of biological functions to maintain good health and vitality. Because they are water-soluble, the body needs a daily source of the B Vitamins. In addition, certain regularly prescribed drugs such as Antibiotics may cause B-Vitamin depletions. PhysioLogics' Stress B provides a convenient way to obtain every essential B vitamin in one high-potency tablet.

PRODUCT BENEFITS: Stress B Formula provides a high-potency essential B vitamin complex needed for several metabolic processes. Thiamin serves as a cofactor for pyruvate dehydrogenase and BCKA dehydrogenase during energy metabolism while Niacin acts as an electron acceptor during carbohydrate and amino acid catabolism. Folic Acid, Pyridoxine and Cyanocobalamin work together to promote healthy levels of homocysteine. The B vitamin complex provides nourishment for the stress of daily living.
